Fly Away Home By: Eve
Bunting
This story is about a father and son who are homeless and live in an airport. It is told from the boy’s point of view. He tells of how a bird got trapped inside the airport once and it took a while for it to get out. They boy hates living there and wishes it was back to the way it was when his mom was alive. He eventually realized that he is like the bird and will get out of the airport and be free eventually.
This is not like any other children’s book I have read. This really shows the seriousness of how a lot of family’s are homeless. This is definitely a story all children should read because it can help them realize how lucky they are.

Living Sunlight By:
Molly Bang and Penny Chrisholm
A man tells of how our beating hearts are his light alive in him. He is our sun that shines down on us and warms us and our land. He tells of the secret of living things we like plants and their fruits. The plants also breathe out oxygen which we breathe. So without lants we would not have oxygen or food, without them there would be no life on earth, without light we would not have plants.
I think this story was in a way teaching about God. Because not everyone has the same beliefs it is a great way to teach children about a greater power. Not only does it teach that but also the basics of science which everyone should know. Starting from a younger age is even better.

I thought this was a very interesting way to tell the story of the underground railroad. A perspective that is not really told.
